The Compagnie

Ivanochko et Cie is dedicated to the work of choreographer Sasha Ivanochko. Built upon feminist values of gender equality and sexual difference, Ivanochko’s body-driven, interdisciplinary practice questions disciplinary conventions and cultural norms, and creates space for alternative possibilities and narratives of the body and identity to emerge.

Past presentations of The Compagnie include: The International Theatre Festival of Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic), the Dance Meeting (Nagoya, Japan), The 2007 IETM (Montréal), The Canada Dance Festival (Ottawa), The Fluid Festival (Calgary), The Guelph Contemporary Dance Festival (Guelph), Dancing on the Edge (Vancouver), New Dance Horizons (Regina), Dancers’ Studio West (Calgary), DanceWorks (Toronto), The Festival of New Dance (St. John’s), Tangente (Montréal), Studio 303 (Montréal), Mile Zero Dance (Edmonton), Quartiers Danses (Montréal), Public Energy (Peterborough), and The School for the Contemporary Arts at SFU, Goldcorp Centre for the Arts (Vancouver). Alongside her choreographies for I et C, she has been commissioned by Toronto Dance Theatre, Winnipeg’s Contemporary Dancers, TILT sound+motion, The Crazyfish Collective (Toronto) and independent artists Helen Husak (Calgary, Alberta), Naoko Murakoshi (Kobe, Japan) and Fabien Piché and Eve Rousseau-Cyr (Québec).
